HOOLA – Nelson, BC
(‘Living Room’ – Shambhala Music Festival)

https://soundcloud.com/11oola-11oop

As a founder of the Living Room Stage at Shambhala and The Pride Productions, Hoola’s influence is felt far and wide throughout the underground dance scene. From Halifax to Victoria, people know magic is about to happen when he steps in the room. Whether it’s his daily life antics or his 20-years-deep vinyl collection and bottomless knowledge of good music, he always manages to get the people smiling.
Currently relocated to Nelson BC and helping create yet another epic party spot, he continues to push the scene forward with fresh ideas and infectious enthusiasm. Rest assured, the party isn’t going anywhere!
Don’t be surprised if he shows up wearing cowboy boots full of river water and plays the funkiest country music you’ve (n)ever heard. We could be so lucky! Either way, you can count on a dance floor full of smiles, funk, and another smooth set full of surprises.

Lion-S – Nelson, BC
(The Pride, Shambhala Music Festival)

https://soundcloud.com/lion-s

Lion-S has deep roots in the Canadian electronic dance music world. Beginning her life long affair with records in 1995, collecting vinyl as a hobby, she opened a record store in Halifax in 1997 and started DJ’ing as a way of expressing the love she had for the new music she was encountering. Discovering a true talent for both selection and mixing, the beats drew her westward landing her in Nelson BC where she began setting foundations for The Pride, one of Nelson’s first dance music event companies. Her stint booking talent for all stages at Shambhala from 2001-2008, and as Living Room stage director from 2002-2011, put her in touch with some of the biggest and most influential acts of the dance music world, exposing her even more deeply to a wide variety of styles which form the basis of her unique multi genre sets. Her roots are in house music but she also explores midtempos ambient and downtempo, favouring sounds with global influence and of the tropical variety, cumbia, moombahton, zouk, trip hop, afro, ethnic, magical, ethereal, caravan, dub, and 808 bass. Lion-S is also a founding member of the Kootenays’ original all female DJ crew MeowMix. Her Monday Morning Living Room sets are a fun way to cap off a great festival weekend for those who make the pilgrimage to the beach.

BREAKFLUID – Vancouver, BC
(5trickpony/Shambhala/Flyertrap)

https://soundcloud.com/breakfluid

5 trick pony crew founder and proud member of a blossoming Wheelhouse crew. Shambhala beach stage resident breakfluid, has been searching out and playing deep, diverse, catchy, accessible, cutting edge, futuristic, soulful, genre defying tracks for 20 years, and has an uncanny ability to weave his way through multiple genres every set he plays.. His unique and rare track selections have enabled him to share the stage with huge talents and fellow music lifers, Bonobo (ninja tune / TruThoughts), Mr. Scruff (ninja tune) J. Boogie (om records), Mad Professor (ariwa sounds), Gift of gab (Quannum/Anti), Dj Vadim (ninja tune/BBE), El Papa Chango (el circo), Sabo (Sol Selectas), Kastle (Symbols). In a time of one dimensional dj’s, breakfluid takes pride in not being pinned to any certain genre or trend that seems to be “hot” at the moment and would rather just focus on well produced music in general. “There’s so much good music being made in so many different genres, why not play all of it”? “Zeroing in on one genre or trend makes little sense to me because trends come and go but quality music lives beyond trends. And you can still grab the best tracks from the trends and play those too. I love collecting tracks that have a timeless feel to them, always making sure I am playing tracks that will stand the test of time… Like playing older tracks that still feel fresh to this day… You can’t beat it..” Come check out a Canadian heavy weight beat digger with styles for miles.-
